When I came to AUSTRALIA 42years ago the one thing I missed the most was Radio Ceylon.

I never dreamed that one day I am going to listen to live radio progs from INDIA.
Added to that a fantastic person like you who is making millions of people Soooo happy with your excellent and beautiful knowledge of music.
Sir,We are very fortunate to have you in INDIA I don't know how to express my happiness when I hear your progs.

You present the progs in so many different ways, which makes it very interesting. To name a few,
1.Your RAGAM based film songs.I am learning so much from that progs.
2.The way you tell the real story behind each song,and the way you share your memories about certain songs.

I'm in Bahrain but my home town is Atchuvely in Jaffna.

I'm head of technical support in Bahrain airport and I regularly listen to your program through satalite which starts at our time 10:30 in the night.

I'm 40 years old and I like old songs so much.

The reference to Nelliyadi in your program always bring back my memory because my uncle's house was next to Nelliyadi central college and I used to visit often.

Who is this silver tonged orator?

This is the question came up in my mind,the very first time when I heard "Ninaithaale inikkum" night service programme by Yazh Suthakar .

My husband & myself lived in this country over 30 years,
with the coming up families has been rolling on, in such a speed & track , I was lost in it -- until night programme became compulsory to me.

I didn't realise the fact that "Ninaithaale inikkum" would be so indispensable one.

It made me feel really as a continuation of my teenage days.

Now I got permanently hooked to the radio Suryan F M , as our Yazh Suthakar from our dear land has possessed our minds so much.


Yazh Sudahakar's knowledge which is like ocean. Flowing in simple language style ,and the word flow expressing his wide knowledge.

None of us wants to miss a word he utter as ,each word is useful,with the time at its best use --- not at all wasted or misused .

The interest of the listeners kept engrossed by the high standard of knowledge and presentation leave alone the simplicity,packed with quotes and notes.


Even carnatic music in which Yazh Suthakar is equipped with, not only music of all types,but also an eloquence in poetry.

He imparts these situationally in the correct contexts, so that the audience gets enhanced in all his knowledge.

This is not just to inform you that I received the three CDs you had sent to me through courier. This is much much more than that.

When I opened them on the computer, I was stunned like a tiger with the spotlight on its gaze. I just didn’t know which one to play.

It was more like a kid infront of a sweet shop.

Struggling to decide on the one to eat first. So thanks to you for making me a child again.

How I wish I had continued to be a child, with no responsibilities and all bliss! At least for a few hours I was in that state.

When I heard your comments on philosophical songs, I just saw my heart getting a voice. When I heard them alone, I felt like I had a company in you.

What I like the most in you is the mental acumen to find the truth in what you see and express it in simple telegraphic style — crisp and sweet.

I am finding all the stuff I wanted to read and many many thanks for posting rare photos of TMS.

They are all great.

I received two cds on Tuesday morning. Thanks a ton.

I did play one in which I saw 50s TMS and three folders of TMS specials.

They all have been compiled nicely and your touch is very evident.

I read your Soundarabharanam at least once a day and I used to wonder how could you have put so much of true and meaningful information in that. I heard every word of it today.

To be frank, every artist longs for a word praise or recognition.

Your programme would certainly have pleased TMS, who thoroughly deserves all the accolades.

The 50s collection was quite different in the sense that he had yet to form his ‘bhani’. Each and every song tries to tell us his keen desire to overcome the competition all around.

The love duet in Thooku Thooku “kanvali pugunthu” has plenty of shades of CSJ as Thanks for relaying “annaiin madiyl”. The song is etched deeply in memory, heard only a couple of times when I was in school. What a song!

The collection of rare songs is superb.

Can you please have a TMS special in which all the songs sung perfectly in a classical style; there can be another wherein navarasams are depicted in each song for a particular actor; there can be another which can highlight his voice modulation for each and every singer he had sung.

They are my humble suggestions.

I wish I could tune to FM Suriyan to hear all the time.

I played the second CD and I liked it very much.

The CDs are more like a family treasure.

I am really lucky to receive it from you.

I desperately want to see the rare photos of TMS you had put up a couple of days back. Hence I told my cousin in America to open and see them. He said they were nice. He had more than a word of praise for your effort to collect these priceless photos.

Saying thanks is becoming prosaic and meaningless.

You are bombarding my senses with one surprise after another.

All the photos are treat to the eyes.

Please for God sake keep the great work (classic) going. I am stumped for words, because my heart is full of emotions.

Everyday I am playing at least one of the cds you have sent me, especially the TMS part.

My mornings are made of this.

I mean the “Ninaithaale Inikkum” programme broadcast by the Suriyan FM.

It is from 2 am Indian time to about 5 am there. It is a comfortable 6 am to about 9 am my time here in Sydney Australia.

Highly nostalgic pleasure for Tamilians in their 40s age, like me.

The programme is originally meant for night shift workers, truck drivers etc of Chennai and suburbs.Superb selection of songs right from 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

I especially enjoy Yazh Sudhakar when he links the songs with the period in which it was popular and talks about those days.

It has the same superb nostalgic effect on the listener.

Sometimes my kids listening in, ask questions like “what is a gramophone” (their generation being that of CDs and DVDs).When writing this I am still listening to the programme.

எனது அன்பிற்குரிய யாழ். சுதாகர்அவர்களுக்கு

வணக்கம்...

வெள்ளியன்று ஏழிசை வேந்தன் திரு.டி.எம்சௌந்தரராஜன் அவர்களின் பிறந்த தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு
அவரது பழைய பாடல்களை ஒலிப்பரப்பி எங்களை அசத்திவிட்டீர்கள்.

'யாழ்' பழந்தமிழ் இசைக்கருவி என்று அறிந்தேன்.சரி.

பாணம் என்றால் தமிழில் என்ன அர்த்தம்?

எனக்குத் தெரியவில்லை.

திருவிளையாடல் படத்தை வைத்துப் பார்த்தால் பாணம் என்றால் பாடல் என்று வரும் போல் தெரிகிறது.

அதில் பாணபத்திரர் என்ற ஒரு கதாபாத்திரம் இருக்கிறது.

அதன்படி எனது கற்பனை யாழ் இனிய இசை, பாணம் பாட்டு பத்திரர், பாணபத்திரர், இனியபாட்டுக்காரர் யாழ் சுதாகர் அவர்கள்.

செந்தமிழ் நாடெனும் போதினிலே இன்பத்தேன் வந்து பாயுதென் காதினிலே, சரி,

ஆனால் எனக்கு யாழ்ப்பாணம் என்ற போதினிலே ஒரு சக்தி பிறக்குது என் நெஞ்சினிலே. ஆம் அந்தநாட்டு பெயரை கேட்டாலே ஒரு மரியாதையுடன் தான் நாம் கவனிப்போம்.

தினமும் விடுதி சாப்பாடு சாப்பிடுபவர்கள் ஒருநாள் வீட்டுச்சாப்பாடு சாப்பிட்டவுடன் என்ன கூறுவார்கள்?

ஆஹா…

இன்றுதான் நல்ல சாப்பிட்டேன் திருப்தியாக ...

இத்தனை நாளாக நாக்கு செத்துக் கிடந்து என்பார்களே...

அது போல் நாங்களும் இங்கே…டப்பா பாட்டுக்களை கேட்டுக் கேட்டு காது செத்துப்போய் கிடந்தோம்.

நீங்களும் ஒரு தொகுப்பாளராக அமர்ந்த பின் தான்
செவிக்கு நல்லஉணவு,
மனதுக்கு ஒரு ஆறுதல்,

இது உண்மை.

ஏழிசை வேந்தனின் பிறந்தநாளை நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு இப்படியொரு மேன்மிகு மரியாதை செய்த உங்களின் திருவடி தொட என் சிரம் தாழ்ந்து வணங்குகின்றேன்.

இப்படியெழுதுவது உங்களுக்கு சற்றுசங்கடமாகஇருக்கலாம். ஆனால், எனக்கு ஆத்மதிருப்தி ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டதே.

நிகழ்ச்சியின் ஊடே நீங்கள் அளித்த தொகுப்பின் போது புலம் பெயர்ந்த என்வாழ்க்கை பயணத்தில் பல இடிகள் வந்து விழுந்தபோதும் எனது முழுக்கட்டுப்பாட்டிலிருந்த கண்ணீர் உங்கள் (TMS) பாடல்களில் கரைபுரண்டு விட்டது என்று கூறினீர்கள்.

அது கேட்டு எனது கபாலம் சற்றே உடைவது போலிருந்தது,...

எனது கண்ணின் இமையோரம் கண்ணீர்த்துளிகள் வழிந்தது,இதயம்கனத்தது.

சிந்தையில் 1983 நினைவுக்கு வந்தது.

வாழ்க்கையில் தாங்கள் பெருமையாககருதுவது இரண்டு,

ஒன்று தமிழனாகப்பிறந்தது,

மற்றொன்று: ஏழிசைவேந்தர் காலத்தே வாழ்வதுஎன்றீர்கள்,

.தமிழனாகப் பிறந்தது என்றீர்களே..

ஆஹா….அதுதான் உறவுப்பாலம்.

ஆனால்! வாழ்க்கையில், நான் பெருமையாககருதுவது:
நீங்கள் நிகழ்ச்சி தொகுத்தளிக்கும் காலத்தே வாழ்வதே நான் பெருமைகொள்வது.

திரு,மயில்வாகனம் அவர்கள் 5.00மணிக்கு நிகழ்ச்சியை துவக்க போகிறாரென்றால், எங்கிருந்தாலும் சைக்கிளை மிக வேகமாக ஓட்டிவந்து ஸ்டாண்டைக் கூட சரியாகப் போடாமல், 4.55க்கெல்லாம் வானொலிப்பெட்டிமுன் அமர்ந்துவிடுவோம்,

அவர் வணக்கம் என்று நிகழ்ச்சியினை தொடங்கும் அழகே தனி, அந்த ஸ்டைல் மிக அருமை எனறு கூறினீர்கள்...

ஆம்! எங்களுக்கும் அதுபோன்றே யாழ் திரு.சுதாகர் அவர்கள்.

ரவி!...
யாழ்ப்பாணக்காரரு வந்துட்டாருப்பா,
அந்த டிரான்ஸிஸ்ட்டரை கொண்டாந்து இந்த டேபிள் மேலேவைப்பா என்பார் என் சீனியர்,

டேய் பங்காளி போய் சீக்கிரமா கொண்டாயேண்டா என்பான் என் நண்பன்,

ராம்லா என்ற தோழர் தாமதமாக வருவார்...

வந்தவுடன்‘ ஆ…நம்மாளு வந்துட்டாருப்பா என்பார்.

உடனே நான் யாருப்பா அது என்பேன்!


அதாம்ப்பா நீ சொல்வியே யாழ்சுதாகரு என்பார்,

திரு.மயில்வாகனம் அவர்களின் நிகழ்ச்சித்தொகுப்பை கேட்க எங்களுக்கு கொடுப்பினை இல்லை.

ஆனால்யாழ்சுதாகர்இருக்கின்றாரே....

அன்று அவர் ,இன்றுஇவர்,

அங்குஅவர்

இங்குஇவர்.

நீங்கள் சிலசமயம் கவிதை படித்துவிட்டு ‘ஆஹா….பிரமாதம்’ என்று இடையே வசனத்தை நுழைத்து ஒலிப்பரப்புவீர்களே...

அது ஒருபுதுமை. மிகஅருமை.

இப்படிப்பட்ட அய்டியாவையெல்லாம் இதற்க்குமுன் நாங்கள் எங்கே அய்யா கேட்டு இருக்கின்றோம்?

எல்லாம் நீங்கள் வந்தபின்தான் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றோம்.

நான் நெடுநாட்களாகவே உங்களுக்கு கடிதமெழுதவேண்டுமென்று நினைப்பதுண்டு...

ஏனோ அதுமுடியாமலேவந்தது.

இப்போது அதை செய்கின்றேன். தயவுசெய்து இதை பொறுமையாக ஒரு வாசிப்பு செய்வீர்களா?

29-10-05 சனிக்கிழமை இரவு 3.00 மணிக்கு நினைத்தாலே இனிக்கும் நிகழ்ச்சியில்… பழைய காலத்து பாடல்களும்…. பதிவான முறைகளும் அதற்கான அர்த்தங்களோடு…. எங்களை எல்லாம் மகிழ்வித்த… நீங்கள்.. [ நீ சொல்லாவிட்டால்… வேறு யார் சொல்வார்கள்… யாழ் ?….. ] அத்தனையும் அருமை…

மயில்வாகனனை நினைவு கூர்ந்தது….. அத்தனையும் மிஞ்சும் அருமை.

ஏனென்றால் உங்களது குரல்வளம் அவரைப்போலவே இருக்கும். நான் முதலில் கேட்டு ரசித்த உங்களது குரல் அவர் என்றுதான் முதலில் நினைத்தேன். .

இரவை கூட பகலாக்கி… எங்களை … சுறுசுறுப்பாக இயங்க வைக்கும் யாழ் அவர்களுக்கு நன்றி. நன்றி. நன்றி.

அமுதும் தேனும் எதற்கு?

எங்கள் அண்ணன் யாழ் சுதாகர் இருக்கையிலே எனக்கு!!

அமுத கானங்களை.... தேனினும் இனிய சுவை உடைய அழகு தமிழில் காற்றலைகளின் மூலம் என்னைப் போன்ற பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான நேயர்களின் எண்ண அலைகளோடு அன்புடன் உறவாடும் அண்ணன் யாழ் சுதாகர் அவர்களுக்கு என் பணிவான வணக்கங்கள்.

பாட்டுக்கொரு தென்றல் திரு. ஏ.எம். ராஜா அவர்களின் தொகுப்பையும், இசைமணி திரு. சீர்காழி கோவிந்தராஜனின் தொகுப்பையும் கேட்டு பரவசம் அடைந்தேன்.

இன்னும் பாராட்டுவதற்கு வார்த்தைகளைத் தேடித் தேடி கடைசியில் எனக்குத் தெரிந்த வார்த்தை இதுதான். “தங்கள் நிகழ்ச்சிகளைக் கேட்குமாறு என்னை மனிதனாகப் பிறக்க வைத்த இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி சொல்கிறேன்.

பிறவிப் பயனை நான் முழுமையாக அடைந்து விட்டேன்.

” 14-02-06 அன்று அதிகாலை 5.00 மணிக்கு ஒலிப்பரப்பான பாட்டுக்கொரு தென்றல் திரு. ஏ.எம். ராஜா, ஜிக்கி இணைந்து பாடிய “செந்தாமரையே” என்ற பாடலைக் கேட்டு என் உயிர் உருகி ....

“ராசி நல்ல ராசி” என்ற பாடலுக்கு உயிர்த்தெழுந்து...

“முத்தாரமே” என்ற பாடலைக் கேட்டு மீண்டும் உயிர் உருகி.. உனக்காகவே நான் உயிர் வாழ்கிறேன்.... மனக் கண்களில் நான் அண்ணன் யாழ் சுதாகரைக் காண்கிறேன் என்று கூறி பாடல்களை ஒலிக்கச் செய்த தங்களுக்கு என் இதயங்கனிந்த நன்றியை தங்களின் பொற் பாதங்களில் சமர்ப்பிக்கின்றேன்.
